2008 events
CHORA organised two major events in 2008.
Summer picnic
Owners and residents enjoyed a summer picnic in North and East Block courtyard.
The main draw was a fantastic raffle with some amazing prizes kindly donated by local businesses. Locale, Troia and Cucina all donated dinners for two; the London Eye offered two lot of two champagne flights on the Eye; Yo Sushi! offered a cook book and a Fortnum and Mason hamper and several bottles of wine and champagne were also on offer.
Winter party
The Southbank Centre kindly waived the venue hire charge so we were able to celebrate in style in the Westminster View Pavilion of the Royal Festival Hall. This amazing room has views across Jubilee Gardens towards the Houses of Parliament and provided a wonderful backdrop to the evening entertainment.
Extraordinary magician Rob James, who you may remember from the Haywood Pavilion party a couple of years back, was so good people were still telling me about what they had seen weeks after the event!
But the highlight had to be the impromptu recital by the students of the Royal Academy of Music, who treated us to a programme of arias and music including Queen of the Night and The Flight of the Bumblebee (which I hear the flautist learned just one hour before the performance!)
Guests of honour Kate Hoey, our local MP, and Mike McCart of the Southbank Centre, were able to meet many County Hall owners and residents and enjoy the entertainment. |
